Personal profile

Deng Furong, M.D., Ph.D., professor, deputy director, Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, Peking University. In recent years, a series of studies on the effects of environmental factors on population health, mechanisms and intervention strategies have been carried out supported by grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, National Key Technology R&D Program, National High Technology Research and Development Program of China, National Key Research and Development Program of China and China Medical Board (CMB). More than 160 articles have been published in domestic and foreign journals, including Environ Health Perspect, Nanotoxicol, Part Fibre Toxicol, and Environ Sci Technol. Two invention patents were obtained as the first accomplisher. More than 20 textbooks, academic monographs and popular science monographs have been published as the chief editor or participant. She has been awarded the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the Youth Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, the Environmental Protection Science and Technology Award, the Outstanding Environmental Science and Technology Worker of the Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, and the second prize of the Education and Teaching Achievements of Peking University. She also concurrently holds the position of secretary general of the Environmental Medicine and Health Branch of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences, director of Forest Convalescent Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, member of the Environment and Ecotoxicology Committee of Chinese Society of Toxicology, member of the Environmental Health Branch of Chinese Preventive Medical Association, member of the Biochemistry and Molecular Toxicology Committee of Chinese Society of Toxicology, and member of the Indoor Environment and Health Branch of Chinese Society of Environmental Sciences.
